The geniuses behind remarkable restaurant designs have reached the next level. Interior design in this realm is no longer about meeting financial or customer demands, but is rather about creating a one-of-a-kind experience. With distinct blueprints involving sea-level eateries, sustainable sets and medieval themes, the food industry has arguably expanded the public’s perception of dining.
The influx of restaurant design and remodeling suggests that consumer demands are shifting. And indeed, the act of eating out has taken on a whole new meaning with the advent of customized bistros. All over the world, patrons are flocking to ornate atmospheres with heightened dining expectations. In addition to an appetizing menu, ambiance and theme are now considered to be most critical. If restaurant design is any indication of satisfaction however, these hot spots will not disappoint.
Singer Construction (aka) Krave Design Group (located in Huntington Beach, CA) recently remodeled the famous Beach Pit BBQ in Costa Mesa, Ca. Using rustic design cues with reclaimed wood paneling, corrugated rusted tin roof and plantation shutters, this design really brings the rustic charm of the south to the southern California coast.
Designed by Brian Singer, or Singer Construction / Krave Restsaurant Design Group, Signer says, “We tied to keep the charm of the original building which used to be a residential house nad yet bring in the rustic elements for give it that warm comfortable feel. Also, we want to bring in a little ‘modern chic’ with the use of quartz counter tops, LED track lighting and the horizontal wood fencing outside in the patio”
One of the more prominent features in the restaurant is the beer and wine display behind the order counter. “This piece is one of my favorite elements,” says Singer. “Its just a simple back bar, but actually one of the most important design features in the restaurant. Even though Beach Pit has been around for nearly 10 years, Customers didn’t realize that the restaurant serve beer of wine because it wasn’t visible or on display! After designing building the bar, sales of alcohol went up 12% in the first week and reach 20% over the following month.”
Singer says the bar is part of his “ROI Design” philosophy. By using design to help push clients profits and helping them realize a return on investment. After the restaurant remodel, owners report that customers are staying longer, ordering more and even comment on how much the food has improved, even though very little was done to the menu.
Beach Pit BBQ’s Smoked Brisket consists of beef that has been slow-smoked over a real wood fire for several hours to give it a bold flavor profile. The meat can be added to any one of Beach Pit’s menu items, including its nachos, salads, wraps and tacos. The slow-smoked brisket is also the star of one of the restaurants new salads: The Brisket Salad.
